ZZX-Series Zig-Zag Effective Grounding System

Many utilities are now requiring that solar installations are effectively grounded. This Neutral Effective Grounding Zig-Zag Transformer is used for 240V-800V Solar Farm Generation Equipment. It will provide the hardware and controls needed to effectively ground the AC side of the system. In addition, this will help with the fast increase in solar farm construction, and converting from DC to AC voltages. This grounding system is designed to satisfy strict utility requirements. For instance, it will make your solar installation as reliably protected from ground faults as traditional three-phase AC grounded systems.

LZR-Series Neutral Grounding Resistor (NGR) Low Resistance Medium Voltage Grounding System

APT Neutral Grounding Resistors and Reactors have "low impedance grounding." They will reduce the stress and amount of damage to your power system equipment. They do this by controlling the magnitude of the ground fault currents. When used in generator neutral, these devices will also limit the amount of the generator available Line to Neutral fault current below the design limits. These limits are set by the NEMA MG1 generators design standard.

Additionally, APT Neutral Grounding Resistors and Reactors will reduce the magnitude of harmonic currents. They will also help switchgear sense that there is current in neutral/ground. The NGR's help dissipate that current.

There is the LZR-P option, in addition to the LZR-Series. It accommodates tight lead time requirements and other site-specific specifications. Please contact an APT Applications Engineer for more information.

Medium Voltage Grounding (HRG) System

An appropriately sized APT HZR-Series High Resistance Grounding (HRG) System provides increased continuity of service. This is due to the ability to operate a power system under a ground fault condition. A ground fault alarm is provided to alert the operations personnel to assist in identifying and correcting the ground fault condition. It also considers orderly shut down as required to clear the fault.

The HZR-Series eliminates arc flash hazards associated with the ground faults. In addition, it detects ground fault conditions in previously ungrounded power systems. The HZR-Series offers a transformer-resistance combination for matched duty rating. It is sized to introduce the amount of no sequence resistive fault current. This exceeds the amount of capacitive ground fault current.

APT's "impedance grounding" ZGR-Series Neutral Grounding Reactors will reduce the stress and amount of damage to your power system equipment. They do this by controlling the magnitude of the ground fault currents. When used in generator neutral, these devices will also limit the amount of the generator available.​ Additionally, these medium voltage grounding systems will reduce the magnitude of harmonic currents. They have neutral sensing & monitoring for field interconnection to the ground fault alarm relay. They include secondary leads wired to terminal blocks.
