Position Purpose:
The primary focus of the Electrical Project Manager is on spearheading switchgear and control panel projects from after-sale to completion. This role serves as a crucial part of our small but dynamic Project Management Engineering team located at our Headquarters in Lafayette, Indiana. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in creation of conceptual electromechanical designs for switchgear projects and will work closely with our engineers to ensure multiple assigned projects meet our company’s high standards for quality and efficiency from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Coordination: Guide projects through every stage, ensuring smooth interaction of project engineers during various phases such as concept, design, testing, delivery, and upgrades.
- Timeline Management: Collaborate with senior management to establish and adhere to internal project timelines, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with customer expectations.
- Documentation & Communication: Work with project engineers to prepare detailed mechanical and electrical submittal packages for customer endorsement.
- Customer Liaison: Act as the primary customers contact post-sales, addressing questions and concerns, acknowledging orders, managing change orders, and keeping them informed throughout the project lifecycle.
- Engineering Tasks: Oversee the development of engineering submittals, including equipment layouts, electrical schematics, and Bills of Materials.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all deliverables, from design to spare parts, meet the highest standards of quality and precision.
- Stakeholder Interaction: Coordinate efforts of purchasing, engineering and production, ensuring the project requirements are faithfully translated into end products.
- Customer Support: Regularly communicate with clients via various channels, addressing their concerns and ensuring satisfaction.
- Problem Solving: Lead efforts in troubleshooting project issues, ensuring obstacles are swiftly addressed and projects remain on track.
- Sales Coordination: Align with sales engineer for project initiation and kickoff, ensuring agreed upon customer requirements are met.
- Technical Assistance: Engage with the design engineering group and production staff to address technical queries and validate milestones.
- Collaborate closely with the existing project team members to facilitate project implementation.
- Perform routine administrative duties pertinent to Project Management and Engineering tasks.
Desired Skills:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in project engineering/management, specifically within the electrical contacting, engineering or switchgear industry.
- Proficient in AutoCAD 2D/3D, Microsoft Excel, Adobe PDF, and other project management tools.
- Strong skills in Windows-based applications including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Commitment & Drive: Possess a “can-do” attitude with a strong commitment to ensuring customer-required dates are met. The candidate should demonstrate a proactive approach and, when faced with pressing deadlines, should be willing to see tasks through to completion, even if it means extending their workday.

Education & Qualifications, one of the following:
- A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering/technology, complemented by a mechanical inclination and a minimum of 3 years of field experience.
- A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering/technology, complemented by an electrical inclination and a minimum of 3 years of field experience.
- A bachelor’s degree in construction engineering management/industrial engineering/technology, complemented by mechanical and electrical inclination and a minimum of 3 years of field experience.
- Trades training/experience equivalent to the above.
